The present setup is designed to study the impact of jeton stationary vanes. It consists of test section fitted witha nozzle at the bottom through which water is fed anddischarged vertically to strike a target carried on a stem,which extends through the cover. A weight carrier ismounted on the upper end of the stem and dead weightof the moving parts is counter balanced by a compressionspring. The vertical force exerted on the target plate ismeasured for applied weights. Two targets are providedwith the setup, which can be attached /detached easilywithout need of any extra tool.Centrifugal pump is used to re-circulate the water fromsump tank to the test section and is return back to thesump tank. The apparatus consists of a glass tube with one endhaving bell mouth entrance. This glass tube with bellmouth entrance is connected to a constant head watertank. The free vortex experimental set up consist of a circulartransparent cylindrical tank fabricated with stainless steelat bottom. Near the bottom of the tank, fourcircumferential jets are placed along the circumference ofthe cylinder. These circumferential jets, near its bottom,helps in the formation of free vortex. It is assumed thatthe torque exerted by these jets is negligible. Threedifferent interchangeable openings are provided whichcan easily be fixed at the bottom. A pointer can betransverse horizontally & vertically across full diameter ofthe vessel so that water surface profile can be measure.Both axes contain graduations so that exact position ofthe pointer is known. The experimental procedureinvolves measurement of the resulting free surface thatrepresents the variation of the sum of the pressure headand datum head. An arrangement is provided to drain thevessel.The forced experimental set-up consist of a circulartransparent cylindrical tank, fixed on a stainless steelplate. This plate is rotated with the help of a variablespeed motor so that the cylinder rotates about its verticalaxis. The motor is supplied with speed control facility androtation of the transparent tank is displayed on a DigitalRPM Indicator. Water is filled in this tank up to certainlevel. When this water filled transparent tank rotates, aforced vortex is formed. An upper probe can betransverse horizontally & vertically across full diameter ofthe transparent tank so that water surface profile can bemeasure. Both axes contain graduations so that exactposition of the probe is known. The experimentalprocedure involves measurement of the resulting freesurface that represents the variation of the sum of thepressure head and datum head. An arrangement isprovided to drain the vessel.

The Centre of Pressure Apparatus has been designed todetermine the static thrust exerted by a fluid on asubmerged surface and allow comparison of themeasured magnitude and position of this force withsimple theory.A fabricated quadrant is mounted on a balance arm,which pivots on knife-edges. The knife-edges coincidewith the centre of arc of the quadrant. Thus, of thehydrostatic forces acting on the quadrant whenimmersed, only the force on the rectangular end facegives rise to a moment about the knife-edges. Thebalance arm incorporates a balance pan for the weightssupplied and an adjustable counterbalancing deadweight. This apparatus consists of a Open Flow channel with inletsection. The equipment is designed to study the variousphenomenon and patterns of flow with the help ofvarious types of models. The channel section istransparent by which user can observe the various flowpatterns of fluid in the channel and photographs can betaken. A dye injection system is also provided at the inletof the channel to visualize the flow pattern. At the inlet ofthe channel stilling and smoothening device is providedfor obtaining the excellent velocity profile in the testsection. At the discharge side a weir is provided whichhave an adjustable height. This weir maintains theoperating water level for the channel.Present set-up is an accessory of Hydraulic Bench whichcan be connected to the Hydraulic Bench with providedquick release coupling. To operate this accessory end usershould have Hydraulic Bench which is provided withcontrolled water supply and flow rate measurementfacility.

The apparatus has been designed to demonstrate thephenomenon of cavitations. The present set-up consistsof a test section made of Acrylic having conversion anddiversion section. Pressure tapings at appropriateposition are provided. This test section is having onecontrol valve at upstream side to regulate the water flowrate. Two pressure gauges are connected to these tapingwhich give the pressure readout at the time of flowpassing through this test section.Present set-up is an accessory of Hydraulic Bench whichcan be connected to the Hydraulic Bench with providedquick release coupling.
